We also offer the opportunity to "foster to adopt". This allows you to evaluate the suitability of a new rescue dog for your home and, at the same time, saves a dog.

Fosters agree to house and care for a Jack Russell until it gets adopted or until the foster family decides to adopt him or her.

Alex is a handsome young male that is not a dominant type. He seems to get on well with other dogs of both sexes. He may have had some rough handling in his past since he is very submissive to humans but he is becoming more confident every day in his foster home. He has even started to play with a tennis ball. My name is Betsy. I am safe, warm, free of pain, and loved now but I am afraid my story didn't start out that way. You see I was out on my own, injured, hungry, covered in fleas, and very scared. After wandering the streets for some time, I was taken to the animal shelter and my future didn't look that promising. Lucky for me though that the shelter has lots of good rescue connections and got my story out into the rescue community. I found my way to SBRET because they have a wonderful new volunteer who just happens to know and love Jack Russells. Oh, I forgot to tell you I am a young (about 1 year old), female Jack Russell weighing in at 13 pounds. My pelvis was badly damaged and I had an injury to my leg also. Thank goodness for the great vets at Anderson County Animal Hospital who agreed to do my surgery which was removing the femoral head (FHO surgery). I am convalescing in my foster home and will gradually regain use of my leg over time. I would sure love my new family to come along and just as soon as the vet releases me I can go to my new home. I walk well on a leash, get along okay with other dogs, and potty outside. Sounds pretty good doesn't it? I have one little thing though and that is I really want to chase the cat so a home with no cats would be best. Biscuit.

Biscuit is a young (20 mo. old) neutered male, current on all his vaccinations and high on life. He is parasite free and microchipped. In addition to being crate-trained Biscuit is housebroken and loves to spend time inside with his foster parents and while there is very well-mannered. He is smooth coated and stands about ten inches at the withers and weighs 12 pounds. Presently Biscuit is being fostered in Central Virginia, near Richmond.

This is one cute boy! I love the one white ear. He does NOT look his age at all. Cooper is 6 years old, birthday 11/24. He is neutered and his vaccinations are up-to-date as of 11/2009-valid for one year. Cooper is not fond of other dogs, has lived with cats that were not declawed and loved to play with them. Dislikes small children (most Jack Russells do not like young children). He doesn't bite the children, but he is uneasy with them as he has not had much exposure to them.
